“80 Years After” – European Perspectives

Screenings of European films addressing post-war themes in French Institute, Goethe-Institut and Dutch Institute in Saint Petersburg. The programme offers a shared reflection on the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and its aftermath.
From 27.5. until 1.6.2025 a curated selection of films from across Europe will be screened in Saint Petersburg. Together with the audience will be explored how World War II and its aftermath shaped European societies, with a particular focus on reconciliation, convergence, and shared memory. It is an opportunity to reflect together on the legacy of the past and the responsibilities people carry into the future. Screenings include feature films, animated films, as well as documentary formats from Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland.
The programme is not open to the public – access to the specific events is given after online registration.
THE LAST DIALOGUE (Der Schönste Tag) will be screened on May 30th, 2025, at 20:00 (LCL) at the Goethe Institute.
